Great audience, some great looking hats and us.

Two judges installing measuring microphone
just before the "burp".

During the deadly 5 mins. Notice the light
tower on the left, it´s fully lighted.

A fellow competitor checking out while we
keep playing at 161.4 dB, wondering is it
only a delusion or is it real...

The Official European dB Drag Race Finals were held at October 27-29. 2000 as a part of annual AMA The Auto-Motor und -Sport Show at Stuttgart Exhibition Center. There were more than 80 participants and they were from Finland, Germany, United Kingdom, Austria, Netherland and Sweden.

The Death Match competition is the most severe test of equipment and team co-operation, because it is required to play as loud as possible for five deadly, destructive minutes and the mean value of the measurement is then the result. During these five minutes it is possible to break or blow up almost everything and a single weak detail can ruin the whole performance totally.

During our five minutes of playing, the audience couldn't believe their eyes because we kept on playing and the mean value just kept getting higher and higher, unlike usual. In the end we managed to put out 161,4 dB on the meter, proudly winning the Death Match, and the result was more than one dB higher than the second contestant.

Our dB Dragster is equipped with 24 pcs of SPL Dynamics DIG-1450 class D amplifiers, where a bridged pair is capable of putting out about 2,5 kilowatts of clean power to the speaker. This huge amount of power is put to one of the two voice coils of six CV Stroker 15D2, which were re-coned by the team.

The main power supply is from 24 pcs of Yellow Top Optima Batteries and the power is routed from the battery bank to the amps via Alfatech 1/0 AWG cables. During the burp the battery bank gets more juice from a 400 amp Wilson heavy duty alternator. The car itself is formerly known as Toyota Pick Up '72 and now there's not much other than the outlook that resembles the original. The speaker box is made of two layers of one inch thick MDF and the doors, ceiling and the dashboard are made of 10 mm steel sheets welded together. The windows are made of one inch thick Plexiglass and the floor is carbon fiber strengthened concrete.

Team Superman is sponsored by SPL Dynamics, Flinkenberg Oy and finnish audio magazine Hifi-Lehti, a loud Thank You for the winningful season of 2000!
